Inside Virginia Giuffre's Desperate Final Months
Drawing on court records, published reports and public statements, this article reconstructs the final chapter of how Virginia Giuffre and her spouse Robert became estranged.
After years of highs and lows, Virginia Giuffre and her husband, Robert, separated in 2024 and were living in Western Australia in separate houses.
The Epstein survivor lived at her rural property in the town of Neergabby with her carer, Cheryl Myers, whom she had hired after suffering a neck injury.
Robert remained at the “marital home” near the beach in Perth, about 60kms away.
Virginia, who loved animals, found this 40-acre rural retreat to be a place of spiritual respite. She had three sheep, three hives of bees and a chicken coop.
Her hope was to one day turn her property into a conservation reserve for animals.
But every day she had to wrestle with trauma, extreme neck pain and fibromyalgia.
In the early days of 2025, Virginia and Robert reunited at a holiday house on the Margaret River coastline for their daughter’s 15th birthday.
Photographs published by The Times showed injuries she sustained after what the newspaper described as an incident on January 9-10, 2025.
These images were published after she received treatment at Royal Perth Hospital.
Her brother Sky Roberts told the newspaper she was involved in an episode which aggravated existing injuries to her sternum and spine, for which she had undergone surgery in 2023.
These pictures appear to show her with a black eye and other bruises to her face, neck and chest.
The circumstances surrounding the January 9-10 incident remain disputed.
According to The Times, Virginia’s injuries appeared to include:
Periorbital bruising (around the eye)
Facial contusions across the cheekbone and jaw
Neck bruising
Upper chest bruising
Variations in colour consistent with bruises at different stages of healing
Locations that are:
Pain-sensitive
Functionally impairing
In this 60 Minutes Australia video (below), Robert’s version of the alleged event has him as the victim.
I've attempted to get in touch with WA Police about their version of events, but I've received no reply. My two Freedom of Information requests were rejected for being outside the legislation.
Meanwhile, days after she presented in hospital, Robert filed a family violence restraining order in court against her. The application was granted by the magistrate.
Virginia was charged in February for breaching the family violence restraining order. This was just days before Virginia said she had days to live following a bus crash.
The alleged breach led to her first appearance at the Magistrates Court in Joondalup, WA, on March 14.
No plea was entered at the hearing and the matter was next listed for April 9, where court records indicated she intended to fight the charge. The case was adjourned to June.
The Times reported that Robert believed Virginia had caused herself the injuries and that she was, and had been, “mentally unstable.”
In notes on his affidavit, The Times said he claimed that he was left with “scratches and bruising to head” and that he was “fearful my spouse will once again come assault and harass myself and my kids”.
Moreover, his attorney, Damian Gordon, told the media that Robert was limited in what he could say due to the ongoing legal matters. “All that Robert and the children want is to remember Virginia as a loving wife and mother.
Unfortunately, the pressure of the public eye resulted in Virginia suffering significant mental health issues and overreliance on prescription medication. This may have led to Virginia’s change of perspective.”
After the alleged incident, The Times reported Robert had filed for divorce.
Virginia’s carer Cheryl Myers told The Daily Mail: “Her children were unable to visit during her last hospital stay, and she was prohibited from even texting them because of court orders restricting contact.”
It meant she had not seen or heard from them for months before her death, Ms Myers said.
‘She was a really good mother - she was an exceptional mother and she loved her children,’ Ms Myers said. ‘Of course she found that separation so hard to deal with.’
In an Instagram post from March 22, 2025, Virginia shared photos of her children and suggested she was unable to see them.
“My beautiful babies have no clue how much I love them,” she wrote.
“I miss them so very much. I have been through hell and back in my 41 years but this is incredibly hurting me worse than anything else.
My heart is shattered and every day that passes my sadness only deepens.”

The saddest episode of her heartbreaking life journey was as she said… being cut off from her children. My heart hurts for her, and all the abuse she endured through her life.
This poor girl.
